2025 GFW Christmas Tree Extravaganza

by Maggie Buettner
Despite the wintery weather, over 400 people attended the GFW Christmas Tree Extravaganza in Gibbon this past weekend. Forty trees were uniquely decorated by area businesses, organizations and individuals. It was described as an “indoor winter wonderland” and “community Hallmark movie.” A display of nativities from around the world and a collection of trees were also exhibited. Over fifty beautiful quilts and additional table toppers and runners were also on display around the school. They were borrowed for the event from local quilt shops and talented individuals.
The GFW Community Tree was also revealed and can still be seen at the Homeplace Arts & Craft Store. The trees were voted on and Immanuel Lutheran Church took first place, Gibbon Sunflower Field was second, and Country Groomer was third place.
Three stuffed bags of hats and gloves were collected for Santa’s Helpers. The festive decorations were donated to upcoming events and concerts and will also be appearing at local assisted living and nursing homes. The event hopes to add more trees next year when more of the school is available.
