Xcel Energy continues to work in Lafayette

Work continues on replacing all the electrical poles in Lafayette. The process will upgrade the system from an approximately 2,400 volt system to 7,200 volts. Work has stopped for a little to allow the lawns to dry up in areas where there are no alleys. It is estimated that about 70 percent of the poles have been replace. Xcel will also be building a new substation on the west side that is expected to be operational in 2028.
