Gibbon Lions celebrate 65th Anniversary

by Maggie Buettner
The Gibbon Lions celebrated their 65th Anniversary this November. In 1959, the chapter was organized by charter members Howard Biebl, Bob Bullemer, Bill Koppen, Marge Bushard and L.D. Wise. The Arlington Lions sponsored the start-up and guided their beginning. They will formally celebrate the anniversary in the spring. Currently, the Gibbon Lions have 29 members. Doc Taggatz has been a member of the Lions for 61 years. They meet the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at D’s Banquet Room in Gibbon.
Some of their fundraisers include BINGO and meat raffles at D’s Pit Stop and a pork chop meal during Gibbon Fun Fest.
