Ruiz sets school record

The GFW Firebirds girls track team scored 48 points placing eighth at the Sub-Section Meet. MVL/Cathedral won the meet with 131 points,St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran placed second with 110 points, Loyola/Cleveland/ MCA placed third with 99 points, River Valley placed fourth with 78 points, Sibley East placed fifth with 70 points, Mayer Lutheran placed sixth with 54 points, LeSueur/Henderson placed seventh with 50.5 points, Glencoe/Silver Lake placed ninth with 31.5 points, Central Public School placed tenth with 26 points, and Lester Prairie placed eleventh with 3 points.
In this meet the top eight individuals and top four relays advance to the Section Meet.
Silvana Ruiz ran a strong race placing fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes 23.63 seconds which is a new school record. She broke Brook Schweiss’ record of 2:25.89 which was set in 1999.
