Winthrop Lion named Zone Person of the Year

Winthrop Lion Mary Nelson was announced as the Zone 3 Person of the Year when area Lions gathered for their spring meeting at Henderson last month. Mary has been a Lion for many years, following her late husband Duane into the club.
Nelson brings an enthusiasm for Lions projects and objectives, along with a willingness to help wherever she is needed. She’s been the club secretary for about eight years years, including holding the position during the difficult Covid era, when club activities were curtailed, but communication was vital.
Mary has served as the chairperson for the club’s annual Christmas party and routinely helps with the club’s omelet breakfast fundraiser. That’s not the extent of her breakfast work, however.
