GFW purchases camera system for bus fleet

by Doug Hanson

The GFW School Board has been in the process of redoing its transportation department to make it more efficient and safer. On July 19 the School Board approved a purchase of the Pro Vision Camera System that featured four cameras per bus with Wifi download and solid state drive at the cost of $32,832. At the May board meeting, the Center for Efficient School Operations (CESO) was hired to reroute the busses, using a GPS system. At that time the topic of cameras was discussed as a safety measure and a way to handle problems that may occur. On July 19 Greg Johnson of CESO presented a product comparison of four systems. (Johnson and his wife Ella ran Sisters Cafe in Winthrop a few years ago).
