Last summer, Ann Hartmann and Tom Schafer discussed adding a mural to his newly acquired building. The building is located west of the library facing the parking lot. This summer he approached Ann to see if she was still interested and gave her permission to do any design of her choice. As she was designing the mural, she thoughtabout Gibbon’s history as a train town, polka city, and named after a war general. But she decided to approach the wall with a design to catch a person’s eye and show how lively Gibbon is.
“Being enamored with our quaint farm community, the left side of the mural was therefore created to show respect to our farm country, the hard work and dedication of our farmers and the beauty being brought to the town with both the farms, as well as the new addition of our sunflower park.”
