Second Street Project Update

Week of April 29

Carver Street will experience water service shut-downs on Tuesday, April 30th to facility watermain valve installations. 1st Street to 2nd Street will be affected from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2nd Street to 3rd Street will be affected from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
A temporary water service system will be installed between Hennepin Street and Main Street to prepare for watermain construction. This work will be completed by a master plumber, who will be in contact with each property before they are connected to the system.
Later in the week, utility installation will begin between CD 42 and Hennepin Street, working from east-to-west. The Contractor will start with sanitary sewer, stop short of Hennepin Street, and then drop back to install the storm sewer in this area. Pleasant Street will be closed to through traffic while this work is underway.
The street light by the post office will be shut off next week. Materials and equipment will continue to be delivered to the site periodically.
Week of May 6

Contractor will also begin subcutting 2nd Street between Hennepin Street and Main Street.
Materials and equipment will continue to be delivered to the site periodically.
Mail, Garbage, and Recycling Services.
The Contractor will be responsible for coordinating garbage and recycling pick-up and mail services. Residents and businesses in the project area are asked to mark their garbage and recycling containers with their address to ensure they get their same containers back. Please deliver your containers to their regular pick-up spot the night before when work is being completed in your area. The Contractor will move them to where they will be emptied and then return them to each property.
Carver Street and City Parking Lot Traffic Pattern
When the intersection of 2nd Street and Carver Street is closed, the alley between the City parking lot and 3rd Street will become a one-way. A ramp will be constructed over the curb to allow traffic from Carver Street to circulate through the parking lot and exit through the alley. South of 2nd Street, Carver Street will become a one-way in the opposite direction it currently operates. Traffic will circulate through the clinic parking lot and exit through the alley. Circulation patterns are shownin photo.
