Claire kicks cancer

by Maggie Buettner
One year. A lot can happen and change in one year. One year ago, Claire Van Epps was a vibrant and sassy four-year-old. After experiencing unusual pain and leg and body spasms, a CT scan revealed a tumor on her spinal cord.
On July 30, 2023, Claire went through a three-hour surgery to remove the tumor which left her with no control of her lower body including walking and bowel movements. She was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma and treatment will consist of 36 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. Her recovery and first treatments were between Children’s Hospital and Gillette’s.
