Council holds public hearing on unpaid utilities, nuisances

The Winthrop City Council held a public hearing for utility and nuisance assessments at its regular meeting on Monday evening.
The assessments ranged from $200 to $700 for the unpaid nuisances and the two unpaid utilities were $988.85 and $3,405.09.The unpaid total came to $8,983. There were 11 unpaid nuisances fines.
None of the property owners appeared at the public hearing.
The assessments will be sent to the Sibley County Auditor to be placed on the property taxes of the property owners. The assessments will be placed at an interest rate of 4.25 percent.
