Lafayette Council continues to upgrade area by park, community center

by Doug Hanson
The City of Lafayette continues to take steps to improve various areas as it prepares for its 125th Anniversary. At its September 9th meeting, the Lafayette City Council agreed to improve the roadway that the food trucks use by adding a driveway gravel mixture. At the same time the driveway by the new playground will be repaired and a gravel area behind the community center will be relandscaped with fabric and driveway gravel mixture. The cost of these projects was approved at $9,695.
Also the City Council took steps to fix the two blight properties in town. The tree branch was removed from one property and the vehicle was moved from the second one, but both properties had very tall grass/weeds. The City passed a motion to have its lawn mowing service cut the grass on both properties and put that cost on the property owners’ assessment.
