Alfred retiring after 30-plus years at GFW

Carolee Alfred will be winding down her teaching career this week as she will be retiring at the end of the school year.
The long-time GFW teacher has taught first grade, second grade for two years and special education the past three years. The majority of her career has been in the first grade classroom. She arrived at GFW in 1992.
Alfred is originally from Bloomington. She received her teacher’s degree from Minnesota State University. She taught for two years in Elko, NV, beforing coming to GFW for the rest of her career.
“I got into education because of the love of learning and the love that children can have for learning. It’s a great process,” she said.
Alfred truly enjoyed the first grade classroom. “The kids walking in with tools that they have learned in Kindergarten with lots to build on.
