The flooring for the gymnasium at the new GFW school arrived last Thursday. A 40-day window begins on Thursday for the lumber to adjust to the humidity, then be installed, painted, seal coated and allowed to dry. After that the bleachers can be installed. The projected date for the gymnasium to be available to the school is January 29. Photo by Doug Hanson

An agreement between MnDOT, the City of Gibbon and GFW to finish a walking path from the school property to Ely Avenue (by the bowling alley) was approved by the GFW School Board at its November meeting on Nov. 17th. The State has agreed to fund up to $200,000 for the project that has a total cost of $235,000. The school district will pay for the remaining $35,000, which will come out of the contingency fund.
The City of Gibbon will be in charge of maintenance for the path and the cross walk lighting. Superintendent Allen Berg stated that the District and the City of Gibbon are in discussion on snow removal and what that will entail.
