GFW Board investigates Capital Project Levy

by Doug Hanson
The GFW School Board listened to Mike Hart of PTMA Financial Solutions at its committee meeting on April 6 talk about funding options. Superintendent Allen Berg has been trying to look into the future to see what financial difficulties may arise.
Hart discussed a Capital Project Levy. This levy is voter approved and can only be spent on predetermined areas. These areas include transportation (leasing or purchasing vehicles), curriculum, technology and constructing, repairing and improving school buildings.
Revenue of this levy can not be used for general operation expenses outside of especially defined purposes. It will have to go through the State’s review and comment procedure, which will have to be approved four months prior to the election.
