Gibbon Council approves purchase of new police squad vehicle
by Doug Hanson
For the past several months Police Chief Sara Miller has been researching what the best deal could be for a new squad vehicle. The Police Department normally purchases Ford Explorers, this time it also looked at Chevy Tahoes. But the Tahoe ended up being too expensive.
Four dealers were asked for pricing on a new Explorer with the options the Department needed. The Gibbon City Council selected Chuck Spaeth Ford in New Ulm at the state bid price of $43,095.94, partly because the close proximity for any future warranty or repair work.
The City does put $7,000 away each year for a future police vehicle purchase. So far there is $42,000 in that fund.
