Lafayette City selects new City Clerk

by Doug Hanson
There was plenty of interest in the job opening for a new city clerk for Lafayette. Current City Clerk Sandy Burger announced her retirement several months ago.
In July, ads were running with information on the position. Details of the position were handed out to 15 people and seven returned their applications. The City’s hiring committee of Mayor Curt Tauber, Councilman Dave Reed, Public Works Supervisor Allen Fox and Burger reviewed the applications and interviewed three individuals.
On Monday evening, Mayor Tauber announced that Kim Thomas of Lafayette was selected to fill the vacancy. It is expected that the individual will start in October, working with Burger. Then sometime in February, Burger will finish her run as the city clerk.
