Steele reflects on past year as Winthrop Princess

by Michael Mattison
There is just a couple of more weeks left in the reign of Madyson Steele as Winthrop Princess. The new Winthrop Royalty will be crowned Friday, April 10, at The Warehouse.
“I decided to run for Miss Winthrop because I knew it would be a really good opportunity to get to meet other people from other towns and just branch out and get my name out there so people know me more and get contacts with other people.” Steele said.
She said she found coronation day really exciting. They got to meet the royalty members from other towns that came to the event. “During the coronation, it was really fun getting to be up there with the other candidates,” she said. “The crowning moment was really special.”
For the judging, they prepared “All About Me” boards, interviewed with the judges and performed a talent. Her demonstration was food preparation.
“I was pretty nervous but I just knew to be myself, be my bubbly self, and try to show that I wasn’t nervous,” Steele said. “I just wanted to be out there and really talkative with them.”
