Field spraying is a necessity when it comes to keeping weed populations down and improving crop performance. Sometimes, spraying can cause problems to neighboring fields and other areas. Mark Hagberg of Hagberg Ag came up with the Green Shield that is helping farmers combat this difficulty. “We farm ourselves and we were always looking for something to put out on the end of the boom to stop the overspray on the neighboring fields, road ditches, grass and waterways,” Hagberg said. “There are a lot of buffer strips along the ditches so you don’t kill that outside, whatever you are trying to protect out there.”
