City votes approval of storm sewer study

The two heavy rainfalls this summer tested the limits of the city’s storm sewer drainage system and left several residents with messes to clean up on their property and in their basements. Rainfalls like that are not supposed to happen for 50-100 years and two occurred within the span of a month. The Winthrop City Council voted to have I&S Group conduct a study at a cost of $39,200 to look at storm sewer system throughout the city at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
