Open house provides information about Highway 19 project and closure
There will be some changes to the timeline for the upcoming project on Highway 19. According to Project Engineer Patrick Thompson, the project will hopefully begin the first or second week of September. Ashwill Companies is the contractor and they expect the project to take 4-six weeks. It was to begin on August 29 but utility delays on a project in Fairfax has delayed the Winthrop project. About 20 people attended the open house meeting on August 18. The project will replace a box culvert running under Highway 19 serving the county ditch in the area. It is locaated between Pleasant Street and County Road 57. In addition to the cuvert being replaced, part of the highway will have to be taken up and then replaced. There will also be some utility relocates and moving of some signage.
