A revised policy comes into play as GFW Board struggles to set agenda

by Doug Hanson

A new policy adopted in the past month, came into play at the November 21st GFW School Board meeting. The policy stated that a majority of the Board had to approve removing an item from the consent agenda at the Board meeting. Drew Schmidt made a motion to remove the two contracts (the superintendent contract and a new Chief Financial Officer contract) from the agenda, so the Board could have more discussions. Board Director Dan Merkel seconded the motion. Schmidt, Merkel, Marisa Lee voted to approve with Chairman Mike Kuehn, Jason Haas and Casey Prochniak voting against. The motion failed on a 3-3 vote.
