Citizens hear presentation, give input on Winthrop Market
by Michael Mattison
The Winthrop City Council held work sessions Monday afternoon and evening to discuss a proposal that could keep Winthrop Market open and viable into the future. The City Council Chambers were willed with concerned citizens and the overwhelming sentiment was that the grocery store was an essential business to the Winthrop community and that the Council should provide assistance in some manner.
Winthrop Market Owner Drew Schmidt opened the meeting with a presentation explaining how it started and what he was asking from the city. This was followed by a question and comment period from the audience.
