Independent School District GFW Public Schools November 21, 2022 Summary of regular school board meetings. Full text is available for public inspection at 323 East 11th Street, Gibbon, MN 55335. CALL TO ORDER The regular board meeting of the GFW Public School Board was held on November 21, 2022 at the Elementary School Gibbon, MN. Board Chair Kuehn called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. ALSO present: Superintendent Dr. Horton, Tech Werner, Principal Thompson, Food Service Director Walter, Student & Community Program Director Schiro, Principal Galetka, Lee, Prochniak, Schmidt, Press Busch, Merkel, Press Hanson, Parent, Haas Absent: None APPROVE AGENDA Schmidt moved with support from Merkel to remove the Independent Contracts from the consent agenda. 3/3 Vote Motion Failed. Prochniak moved with support from Kuehn to approve the agenda. 3/3 Vote Motion Failed. Schmidt moved with support from Merkel to remove the Independent Contracts from the consent agenda and add to the discussion items. 3/2/1 Vote Motion Failed. Prochniak moved with support from Lee to remove the CFO Contract from the consent agenda and table until the December meeting. Motion Carried 5/1 CONSENT AGENDA Haas moved with support from Prochniak to approve the following consent agenda with the removal of the CFO Independent Contract. 4/2 Vote Motion Carried. APPROVAL OF RESOLUTIONS AND ACTION ITEM School Calendar 2023-2024 Kuehn moved with support from Haas to approve the final 2023-2024 school calendar. Motion Carried. Registration Guide 2023-2024 Schmidt moved with support from Haas to approve the 2023-2024 Registration Guide. Motion Carried. Resolution: Acceptance of Donations Prochniak moved with support from Schmidt to approve a $200.00 donation from St. Willibrord Catholic United Financial, $100.00 donation from Fairfax Lions, $250.00 from Gibbon Fire Department, $100.00 from Winthrop Lions Club and $250.00 from Knights of Columbus-Gaylord all for the fentanyl presentation at the high school. Yes – Lee, Schmidt, Haas, Merkel, Kuehn, Prochniak No – None Motion Carried. EXECUTIVE (CLOSED) SESSION The Open Meeting Law, Minnesota Statute section 13D.05, subdivision 3(a), states that the School Board may close a meeting for the purpose of discussing the superintendent’s performance evaluation. Kuehn moved with support from Haas to close the regular board meeting at 7:18 p.m. Motion Carried. Schmidt moved with support from Haas to open the closed session at 7:23 p.m. Motion Carried. Schmidt moved with support from Merkel to close the closed session at 7:40 p.m. Motion Carried. Kuehn moved with support from Schmidt to reopen the regular board meeting at 7:40 p.m. Motion Carried. City of Lafayette Public Hearing Notice The Lafayette City Council has scheduled a Public Hearing for Monday, January 9, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. to be held in the City Council Chambers at 791 Main Avenue, Lafayette MN. The purpose of the public hearing is to consider an application for a conditional use permit in the Agriculture/Commercial zone submitted by property owner Brian Martens. The owner is requesting permission to build a 367 KW AC Community solar garden, which requires a conditional permit pursuant to City zoning code.
