Lafayette’s RO Project keeps taking small steps forward

by Doug Hanson
Last Monday, the Lafayette City Council heard an update on the Reverse Osmosis Project from Public Works Supervisor Al Fox. He stated that the Geotechnical Services for the site evaluation has been completed. Proposals for a RO Pilot Study were mailed out January 27, with bids due on February 28. The start-up date for the study shall commence no later than May 1st.
The City’s existing Water Treatment Plant will need upgrades to its electrical power. Additional power is needed for the pilot study and for a fully operational RO System. Fox has started a dialog with Xcel Energy for the upgrades. Fox also stated that the General Obligation Grant was awarded for the project.
