GFW Board discusses building process
by Doug Hanson
The GFW School Board held a work session on May 1st to review the construction timeline and architecture process.
Wold Architect and Engineering of St. Paul presented a power point plan that they would use to get the school ready for fall of 2025. They would be working with Kaus-Anderson of Minneapolis, who has built several schools throughout Minnesota. While no one has officially been hired yet, the School Board’s attorney is reviewing a contract from the duo.
Assuming Wold/Kaus-Anderson contract will be approved at the May 15 regular school board meeting, the next step would be for them to send out their representatives to collect information and data on the four possible sites.
The four sites include the Eckert farm land north of the current elementary, the Forst farm land north of the old Gibbon Ballroom, the property that now has the former Gibbon Ballroom, and South 80 plus some Eckert farm to the East of those sites and finally some Fisher farm land just south of Gibbon
The District hopes to have the land selection completed by mid-June.
In other business the Board reviewed its committee structures, heard an update on the fiscal year 23 budget and reviewed the current school calendar.
