Still time for public comment on Clear Lake drawdown proposal

by Michael Mattison
There has been a public hearing and also informational meetings on the Department of Natural Resources plan for a drawdown of Clear Lake. The public comment time is running out but those can still be submitted until June 15. They can be submitted at hutchinson.
Brian Carlson, president of Gibbon Sportsmans Club, said while members have their own opinions, the Club is neutral on the matter.
Carlson said that Clear Lake has an overabundance of carp in the lake, about 3-4 times what isconsider an infestation. “With a fairly substantial winter kill last year, they felt this year would be the best time to do it,” he said.
Carlson said it looks as though the drawdown will be happening.
