Pharmacy to close

The owners of the Winthrop Pharmacy announced last Friday that they will be closing the business on Tuesday, July 11th.
Owners Megan Schmidt and Ellen Anderson stated in their announcement that “the last several years we have been faced with decreasing reimbursement from insurances and their pharmacy benefits managers to the point that many prescriptions that leave our pharmacy are reimbursed less than our cost.”
Schmidt and Anderson have run the pharmacy for the past 12 years and prior to that worked for Brad Nelson at Hanson Drug.
Following the closure, the pharmacy prescription files will be transferred to Allina Health New Ulm Pharmacy. Anderson will be joining the staff in that pharmacy. Their phone number is 507-217-5808.
Anderson and Schmidt expressed how grateful they were to the patients that have supported them and allowed them to provide the service the past 12 years.
