Information gathered for natural gas line proposal

by Michael Mattison
The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission held a public informational meeting on Wednesday evening at Winthrop City Hall to discuss the proposed natural gas pipeline project for Heartland Corn Products, an ethanol plant located on the east edge of Winthrop.
Heartland has filed for an application to construct a 7.8 mile natural gas pipeline in Winthrop with a 6.625 inch diameter.
This line would provide additional gas that is needed to run the current facility and accommodate future expansion.
The proposed route has a couple of jogs north and then back south near the beginning of the line and then runs straight east, along the north edge of the City of Winthrop before heading south to Heartland.
