The Winthrop Police Department has found a new home at the former Walton Law Office building after being housed at Winthrop City Hall.
The move was necessitated by the condition of the ambulance barn which has structural concerns.
Winthrop Police Chief Logan Anderson said there was a growing need for better space and face for the police department.
Safety concerns at the old facility was a concern as the officers in the office had no idea what might be waiting for them when they opened the door.
