Gibbon Police Chief announces his resignation

by Doug Hanson
Gibbon Police Chief Shaun Doheny informed the Gibbon City Council at the regular October 3rd City Council meeting that he had been offered a job in the Twin Cities. Since that would allow him to be closer to his family, he decided to accept the position starting November 1st.
Informed earlier in the day, City Administration Dana Lietzau had started researching the process for advertising for a Chief, had talked to area police departments and also Sibley County Sheriff Department.
Since the City will need a replacement fairly quickly, the idea of an interim police chief was discussed. There were also questions about what the job description would be, salaries for the interim Chief and new Chief. Lietzau was continuing to reach out for more information. A special meeting will be planned in the near future.
