On October 5th a group from the Minnesota Legislure travelled to Lafayette to learn more about the Reverse Osmosis Project to reduce the hardest of the water for Lafayette. Public Works Supervisor Al Fox stated a delegation of about 15 came out to review the grant for the project, see what the City has been doing to correct the water situation and the plans moving forward.
Fox said, “They were very pleased with how things were going and how the City was operating as a whole”.
Fox stated that the City of Lafayette has already been awarded a million dollar federal grant for the R/O project. Now the City is competing for State grants that will go into next spring’s bonding bill. The City has request $1.3 million from the State.
The delegation spent about 25 minutes in Lafayette before moving on to another city that was in the running for a grant. Fox was not sure how many cities would receive a grant.
