Moose on the loose

The wayward moose—seen in various places in southern Minnesota the last several weeks—visited Bernadotte Friday. The Johnson family, just south of Bernadotte, spotted him when they were combining corn. The moose, a young buck, spent quite a bit of time wandering along the ditch south of the church parsonage, up towards the county line road—but stopped short of crossing into Sibley County. He headed back south, then rested in Johnsons’ corn field from about 12:15 to 5:00 p.m. After that rest, the moose headed north again, this time crossing the county line road, then crossing the ditch just south of the Sjostrom farm, and kept going north.
