Klossner named Nicollet County Outstanding Senior
by Michael Mattison
It has been quite a year for Ruth Klossner. In April she was inducted into the District 88 Foundation Hall of Fame and late this summer she was honored as the Nicollet County Outstanding Senior Citizen at the Nicollet County Fair.
Klossner said she was completely surprised when she was nominated for the Hall of Fame. “It’s mostly doctors and lawyers and people like that in the Hall,” she said. “I looked at the people that were in the Hall and I wondered where I fit. First I thought that all the things I’ve done in my life don’t fit together but then I realized they do. I’ve been a storyteller through printed word and photos from the time I was working with 4-H.” She started by taking photos of 4-H activities and sending them to the local newspapers in the early 1980s. She then got into professional photography and telling stories through weddings, senior pictures and family pictures.
The foundations for these awards began many decades ago.
