Council approves bids for Second Street project

The Second Street project is now a go as the Winthrop City Council approved the low bid of R & R Excavating of Hutchinson at a special meeting Monday night.
This was a continuation of the regular meeting last Monday when the City Council received the bid from Bryan Petzel of ISG. The bid came in at $7,613,231.76. Four other bids were received ranging from $8,239,475.66 to $11,141,759.12. With contingencies and other fees, the total cost of the project is $9,655,844.93, an increase of about $1.6 million. This is 17.9 percent higher than the estimate.
