Lafayette waffle breakfast supports Bob Peterson

by Ruth Klossner
Dense fog and slippery roads Sunday morning slowed the arrival of the crowd, but things picked up later and the Lafayette Lions had a good attendance for their annual Dad’s Belgian Waffle Breakfast—which was also a benefit for Bob Peterson. A total of 402 plates were served—348 adults in-house, 20 kids, and 34 take-outs.
The benefit had been postponed two weeks by extreme cold weather on January 14. Temperatures were a lot better this time around.
The benefit raised funds for Bob and his wife, Lafayette Mayor Sandie Peterson, as Bob battles prostate cancer. Funds were raised through a cash raffle, a silent auction, a quilt raffle, and free will donations.
Winners of the triple quilt raffle were Ken Hauser, Lauretta Stutsman, and Becky Lund Briggs. Cash raffle winners were Glenn & Jackie Forst, Larry & Debra Mages, and Curt Tauber, $500 each; and Charles Hartley and Mark & John Haler, $250 each
From set-up Saturday morning to clean-up Sunday afternoon, it took a big crew of volunteers and Lions members to make the event a success. Special thanks go to all the outside volunteers and to the Lafayette Fire Department for all the firemen did so the Lions could use the facility.
