Michael P. Johnson, age 59, of Brooklyn Center, formerly Gibbon and Winthrop, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe. Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon, Minnesota. Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 A.M., 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Michael Paul Johnson was born July 8, 1964, in Rochester, Minnesota. He was the son of Jerome and Marlys (Gronholz) Johnson. He received his education in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, and graduated with the Brooklyn Center High School class of 1983. He continued his education at St. Cloud State University and Alexandria Technical Community College and received his degree in Law Enforcement. Mike loved law enforcement and was employed with the City of Gibbon as the Chief of Police for 15 years.
Mike was blessed with two sons, Alex and Preston. They were his whole world.
In Mike’s younger years, he enjoyed playing sports, football, baseball and track. Mike was a good athlete and his love for the sports didn’t have to end when he graduated though, he was fortunate to get to watch his boys play football, soccer, bowling, basketball, track and shoot trap every chance he got. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Gophers and Minnesota Vikings play. Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and pheasant hunting. He also enjoyed relaxing and watching movies. He cherished the time spent with his family and loved spending every minute with his boys.
When Mike needed additional help, he moved to GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, on January 27, 2023, he passed away there on June 27, 2024, at the age of 59 years. Blessed be his memory.
Michael is survived by Sons, Alex Johnson of Winthrop, MN, Preston Johnson of Winthrop, MN; Mother, Marlys Johnson of Anoka, MN; Sisters, Penny (Allen) Simon of Otsego, MN, Kim (Grant) Curtiss of Brooklyn Park, MN, Dawn (Matt) Koegl of Champlin, MN; Nieces and Nephews, Nick Curtiss, Ashley Curtiss, Emily Curtiss, Eric Simon, Megan Simon, Ella Koegl; Mother to his sons, Stacy Regner of Winthrop, MN; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Other Relatives and Friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Johnson; grandparents, Paul and Juanitta Johnson, Willard and Edna Isenberg. Aunts and Uncles, Phyllis & Stan Strohschein, Chris Hagen, Arden Johnson.
