Randall Dale Monson

Randall Dale Monson, lovingly known as Randy, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on February 28, 1966, Randy lived a life centered around faith, family, friendship, sports, and community. He will be deeply remembered as a devoted husband, proud father, caring son, brother, uncle, loyal friend, and a man whose warmth, humor, and kindness touched countless lives.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Allen Monson; his cherished daughter, Annabelle Monson Lyall, and her husband, Michael Lyall; and his devoted son, Rex Allen Monson. He is also survived by his mother, Carol Lois Monson; his sister, Jody Merchant, and her husband, Tom Merchant; along with his nephews, Paul, Luke, and Joshua Merchant. Randy was preceded in death by his father, N. Dale Monson.
Randy was incredibly proud of his upbringing, having been raised on a farm in Minnesota where hard work, faith, and family were woven into everyday life. Growing up in a close-knit farming community taught him the value of helping others, working together, and always showing up for family — values that stayed with him throughout his entire life.
Professionally, Randy was a highly accomplished caterer and Food & Beverage Director, respected for his passion, creativity, and expertise in the culinary world. He had a gift for bringing people together through food, hospitality, and conversation, and he poured his heart into every event and every meal he created.
Outside of work, Randy’s greatest joy was his family. He was fiercely protective of his daughter, Annabelle, a trait lovingly remembered through one unforgettable Saturday morning when he literally punched a pony that tried to nip at her while they were riding together. He faithfully supported Annabelle in volleyball throughout the years, even though he often joked that he never fully understood the game itself. What mattered most to Randy was simply being there for the people he loved.
Randy’s love for sports was lifelong and contagious. A devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. He especially treasured weekends spent coaching his son, Rex, in a variety of sports and sharing his passion for athletics and teamwork. Crystal often joked that part of the reason Randy married a Texas girl was so he could experience the legendary Texas high school football playoffs every Thanksgiving season.
One of Randy’s most memorable qualities was his humor. He had a way of making everyone laugh and was known for giving friends and family outrageous nicknames — a trait he proudly inherited from his father, Dale. Randy had a larger-than-life personality that could light up a room, and he had a special ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
At the heart of Randy’s caring nature was his faith. He was blessed by the friendships and fellowship he found through a Bible study group with Our Savior Lutheran Church. His faith guided the way he treated others — with compassion, generosity, humor, and grace — and those relationships became a meaningful and cherished part of his life.
Randy’s love for community shined through in the simple moments he enjoyed most: playing all-time quarterback at the park with his son Rex, spending afternoons at the community pool, coaching kids, laughing with friends, and making everyone around him feel included. He lived his life with a servant’s heart and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those around him.
He will be remembered for his warm spirit, his dedication to family and community, his steadfast faith, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, mentorship, humor, and friendship.
Rest in peace, Randy. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
