GFW Board hears delays coming for school project
by Doug Hanson
What everyone has been thinking has finally become public. The new school project for GFW is behind schedule. The GFW School Board received the latest project update at its September 23rd meeting.
Dustin Kempf, senior project manage for Kraus-Anderson Construction Company stated that rain delays and a delay in receiving the plumbing permit created a problem. It was pointed out that plumbing permits normally take eight weeks to get back after application. That has changed to 12 to 16 weeks for the process, which has caused project delays statewide. The permit was received July 23rd and some contractors could not have their site drawings completed until receiving that permit from the state. Also during May through August the site has seen 39 rain days and the whole project was on a tight schedule from day one.
