Friends of the Sibley Area Special Needs host formal dance

by Doug Hanson
Trying to do something special. A group of friends in the Sibley County area work to provide activities, such a bingo, karaoke, grateful gatherings, Christmas, Ring in the New Year, Valentines Day, Shamrock Shenanigans and April Showers for individuals with special needs. And for the second year they held a formal dance at the Warehouse in Winthrop.
Called the Friends of the Sibley Area Special Needs, Pam Schmidt explains, “I believe what we hope to accomplish is to support people with disabilities, their family and friends, to become all they can be, magnifying the abilities within us all as we create and provide a space to explore and celebrate our relationships. To develop a community of people, empowering us to focus on community, friendships, fun and of course dancing!”
