GFW parts ways with Dashir

After over 30 years of working together, GFW has decided to stop using Dashir Management Services for its custodians/cleaners services. Dashir was in charge of hiring the staff for these positions.
In an email to staff on Monday, Superintendent Allen Berg wrote, “I want to share an important upcoming transition within our Buildings and Grounds Department that will take place over the next few weeks. As part of this transition, we will be ending our custodial services with Dashir and bringing these responsibilities in-house by building our own team.
Our new department structure will include a Buildings and Grounds Manager, a daytime custodian, two evening custodians, and autonomous robot floor scrubbers.”
On Monday evening Berg stated, “We weren’t getting the services we needed.”  He recently was part of a demonstration on robots sweeping and scrubbing hallways, gym areas, etc. He decided to lease two machines for approximately $19,000 per year each. Going from 5.5 custodian currently to four custodians and these two machines, Berg reviewed the budget and found he could save $70,000 to $80,000 by bringing the staff back into the building.
Since going from two sites to a single building, the superintendent has been reviewing several areas throughout the District.
Dashir will be through with its contract when a full staff is hired. All current Dashir employees can reapply for a position.
