This past Sunday, McGowan Field in Gibbon had a glimpse of normalcy during the pandemic. The Gibbon Reds amateur baseball team hosted an exhibition game against last year’s state champions, Jordan Brewers. The MN State Baseball Association allowed exhibition games to be played if the teams had written permission from the city council or administrator and stated they were insured and approving the use of their facility by their local town team. As of Monday morning, only 37 towns had approval for their ballparks in the state. Despite the COVID-19 guidelines and regulations in place, baseball was played and over 250 loyal fans and players attended.
