Duane Rose

Duane Rose, age 78, husband of Cheryl, of Gaylord passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at his home in rural Gaylord. Memorial service were held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. Military Honors by the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post #433 of Gaylord. Clergy officiating was Reverend Harold Storm. Organist was Lisa Uecker. Congregational hymns sung were “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”, “On Eagle’s Wings”, “Go My Children With My Blessings”, and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.” Urn bearers were Leighton Rose, Dominic Rose, and April Rose Duane is survived by his: wife, Cheryl Rose of Gaylord, MN; sons, Jason Rose of Lafayette, MN, Justen Rose of Gaylord, MN, and Kelly Rose and his wife, Tammy of Winthrop, MN; grandchildren, Dustin, April, and Caiden Rose, Leighton, Hawken and Brevon Rose, Dominic, Bayleigh and Koufax Rose; brother, Dennis Rose and his wife, Cheryl of Winthrop, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Evelyn Rose; grandson, Bo Dyre. Duane Martin Rose was born on August 15, 1943, in Transit Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was the son of Martin and Evelyn (Quast) Rose. Duane was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He received his education in Winthrop and was a graduate of the Winthrop High School Class of 1962. Duane served his country in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis from June 5, 1962 to December 4, 1962. He was a member of the Army Reserves in Winthrop. On June 6, 1970, Duane was united in marriage to Cheryl Haas at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Transit Township. He retired in 2004. Duane and Cheryl were blessed with three sons, Jason, Justen and Kelly. They shared 52 years of marriage. Duane was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville. Duane enjoyed fishing, beer, road trips, hunting and swimming. Most recently, he enjoyed going to the Annandale Flea Market on Saturday mornings. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Duane passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at his home in rural Gaylord at the age of 78 years.
