Winthrop Police preparing to make move to different location

by Michael Mattison
In the near future, the Winthrop Police Department will be moving from its current location on the east side of Winthrop City Hall to the former Walton Law Office building on Pleasant Street.
The move was prompted by the urgency of needing a place for the Winthrop Ambulance. The city has been told that the current ambulance barn needs to be evacuated due to safety concerns. The rigs had been stored where the police department currently is and that is where they will be located again until a better option is come up with.
This meant that the police department needed to find a new home and the law office building came available for purchase and the city made the deal.
