The 2023 season of the GFW Thunderbird football team got off to a great start on Thursday as the T-Birds traveled to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown and came away with a 22-6 victory.
The T-Birds held WEM to no yards on the first series, forcing a punt, which wouldn’t get back to the line of scrimmage.
That set GFW up on the 20-yards line. On second down Justin Messner gained five yards and then ripped off a 14-yard run for the first score of the year. The two-point conversion failed but the T-Birds held a 6-0 lead.
