Schweiss advances to State in golf
Jenna Schweiss teed it up in the opening round of the State Golf Tournament on Tuesday at 12:08 p.m. at the Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker. The second round will be held on Wednesday.
Schweiss ended up in a tie for fifth place in the Section Tournament last week.
The winner of the event was Sam Price of Sleepy Eye United with a score of 189. Nevaeh Ott of Mountain Lake was second at 205 and Emma Geegen of United South Central fourth at 211. Schweiss and Ava Lipetzke of Springfield were in fifth at 218.
Schweiss opened the Section Tournament with a 111 which put her in seventh place at the time.
Schweiss followed up with a 107 in the second round. It was the seventh best for the day and her combined scores moved her into fifth overall.
Schweiss is paired with Marissa Becker of Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda/Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Kassidy Bristow of Pine River-Backus in the opening round of the State Tournament.
