Thunderbirds advance in Section Tournament

In the opening round of the Section 2A boys basketball tournament, the 17-seed GFW Thunderbirds traveled to 16-seed United South Central and came away with a 61-48 victory.
GFW opened the game with a 10-4 run. Carter Klages scored down low off an assist from Cole Jacobson before Easton Taylor made a layup, was fouled and converted the free throw. Klages again scored in the post and Jacobson hit a three for the six-point lead.

GFW travels to Springfield to face the top ranked Tigers at 7 p.m. today (Tuesday).
