GFW baseball opens 2025 season with a victory

The GFW baseball team got its season off to a great start with a win over Renville County West. The week ended with losses to Springfield and Madelia.
GFW held RCW scoreless for the first two innings and took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second as the T-Birds batted around the order. Luke Bastian led off the inning with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a single by Cole Kemkes. Will Bastian singled home Luke, and Kemkes and Will moved up a base on a wild pitch. A single by Michael Lee plated Kemkes and Will Bastian scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0. Lee took third base on a wild pitch and scored on a one-out single by Owen Swenson. Swenson would reach third base on a throwing error and score on a two-out single off the bat of Kaden Rieke.
