Firebirds open new field for Homecoming game

The GFW Firebirds football team lost its Homecoming game to undefeated Cleveland 29-8 on Friday. It was the first game for the Firebirds on their new field in Gibbon.
GFW opened the game with a punt but had Cleveland at the 23-yard line. After a tackle for loss by Luke Bastian, Cleveland completed an 80-yard touchdown pass and kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead.
GFW had its punt blocked on the next possession with Cleveland taking over at the GFW 12-yard line. The Firebirds defense held and forced a field goal attempt which failed.
