Firebirds make quick work of Madelia in 62-8 rout

It was almost over before it began. The GFW Firebirds football team hosted Madelia on Thursday evening, scoring seven first-half touchdowns in a 62-8 victory over the Blackhawks.
Much of that success was due to the Firebirds’ special teams, the kickoff unit in particular.
Madelia fumbled the opening kickoff and Bernardo Davila recovered it for GFW. Owen Swenson would open the drive with a 25-yard run and Matthew Lee, three plays later, scored from one yard out. Swenson added the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.
