Reuben Daniel Stresemann

Reuben Daniel Stresemann, age 84 of Wake Forest, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at The Laurels of Forest Glenn Rehabilitation Center in Garner, NC, where he was recovering from a broken hip. Reuben is survived by his three children: Renee Pfendler, married to Richard, of Wake Forest, N.C., Sherri Smith, married to David, of Union, K.Y., and Douglas Stresemann, married to Caroline, of Raleigh, N.C. Reuben has four grandchildren: Chase Pfendler, married to Kristie, of Chesterfield, VA, Ryan Pfendler, married to Jessica, of St. Louis, MO, Karina Altman of Burlington, KY, and Nikolas Altman of Burlington, KY. He has one great grandson, Ezra Pfendler of Chesterfield, VA. Reuben was born in Sibley County, Bismarck Township, in Gibbon, Minnesota, on January 10, 1938, to Bernard J. Stresemann and Lillie M. (Remus) Stresemann. Reuben graduated from Winthrop High School in 1956, where he enjoyed participating in the FAA, sports, theater, and student government. He moved away from the Winthrop area soon after high school, yet he always looked forward to his class reunions, along with visiting his aunts, uncles, and cousins at their farms and homes. Reuben served in the US Army Reserves and attended the University of Minnesota and Mankato State. In 1962, he married Paula Maria Ehebauer from Bavaria, Germany, while living in Butler, PA. They started a family and settled in Erie, PA, where Reuben worked for Sentry Insurance. After two decades of shoveling snow, he moved his family to sunny Raleigh, NC, in 1982. He continued to work for Sentry Insurance until his retirement. A few years after Paula died in 2012, he moved to The Lodge in Wake Forest, NC, near his daughter, Renee. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org/donate or sent to DAV, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
